When you think of a zoo, you don't necessarily think high tech. But that's not always the case. We recently finished a project at a prominent NY zoo that had an impressive technical center. The zoo employs high count fiber optic cables to handle all communications on the campus. Utilizing single mode fiber to enable high speed communications over long distances, all parts of the zoo are connected.
It's almost 2016 and a lot of contractors still don't get it. Proper installation and cleaning of fiber optic connectors is a very, very important part of the job. Failure to perform this right may inhibit successful transmission.
We are finishing up a project right now where this was exactly the case. The customer had issues with their network. Here is what we found.
For this project, we replaced hundreds of connectors (that someone else installed). The customer is happy now!
